A week ago, they were already warming up at the annual Waterkant Festival in Kiel, and yesterday, after a hot day, the grand finale at the state's 6th StartUp Camp: Five of nine young start-up teams from all over northern Germany won a plane ticket to Silicon Valley near San Francisco with their business ideas and innovations.

Minister of Economics Dr. Bernd Buchholz, as patron of the event, said after the digital award ceremony: "I truly did not envy the jury, because from my point of view every concept was outstanding and worthy of an award in its own way. And to those who are not among the five winners, I call out: keep going. You are winners by the very fact that you wonderfully enrich our StartUp scene in the North."
